Our Global Engagement

SIMN Global serves migrants, refugees, internally displaced people and seafarers in 35 countries across five continents.

Within the European and African Region, we are active in 11 countries, including Great Britain, France, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, South Africa, Uganda and the United Arab Emirates.

Our presence reflects the different stages of human mobility — places of departure, transit and arrival. Through a coordinated network of services, projects and local partners, we support people on the move in diverse life situations, addressing immediate needs while promoting inclusion, the protection of rights and long-term integration within host communities.

Africa

We believe that everyone has “the right to migrate, not the obligation to migrate”. In addition to implementing reception and comprehensive assistance programs, our presence in certain African countries focuses on enhancing the professional skills of migrants, empowering them to take control of their own life journey

Mediterranean

It is a key transit area, where economic migrants, climate refugees and asylum seekers converge in search of safety and opportunity. Our presence in this region seeks to support local communities in building inclusive, resilient and rights-based societies that uphold the human rights and dignity of people in transit.

Europe

We work to welcome people on the move in destination countries. Through various projects and facilities dedicated to the comprehensive support of individuals, local communities become hubs of intercultural exchange, centers of solidarity, and spaces for training to protect the rights of vulnerable people.

Voices from Europe and Africa

The Tailoring and Design Course organized by the Scalabrinian Missionaries in the Nyumanzi Refugee Settlements of Adjumani, has given me a concrete training opportunity. This experience has strengthened my skills, increased my self-confidence, and empowered me to take concrete steps toward self-reliance and economic independence.

My name is Hashim and I come from Pakistan, but today I also feel a little Roman. When I arrived in 2017, leaving my family behind was painful and the challenges seemed overwhelming, yet at Casa Scalabrini 634 I found not just support, but a new family.

The words of the Gospel, “Rise, take up your mat and walk” (John 5:8), inspire my journey alongside people on the move. At the southern border of Spain, I have discovered a concrete way of living the Gospel—through encounter, hospitality, and the building of community.

I am Anna, a 25-year-old volunteer from Venice, and I joined ASCS volunteering in a shelter for people on the move in Ceuta, at the Spanish-Moroccan border. This experience taught me that what you give stays with others forever: it shapes relationships, transcends moments, and becomes part of people’s lives.
